Want to know the most common questions I get as an author? Well, here they are!
What is the first book that made you cry?
The first book that made me cry is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I’m not a crier, really! It takes a log to make me cry, so when I do, you know the book is an emotional roller coaster. Not only the book, but the movie is a tearjerker too! For once, I liked the movie and the book equally, which isn’t something I say lightly.
What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
Each book I write is different. Usually, I don’t have to do much research before beginning a novel. Since my books aren’t historical fiction and are typically based in a familiar-like setting or a completely fake setting, I don’t have to do much research. However, the part that takes me the longest is plotting and developing the main characters’ motivations. I have to know the overall plot and what makes the character motivated to complete the main task prior to writing. Not every writer is this way, but for me, knowing these two elements is a must.

Either they lack what they think is the correct education or they don’t have a good support network that tells them they’re good enough. Let me be the one to tell you: You’re good enough! You don’t need an education to be a good writer, but you do need to study the elements of writing, which ANYONE can do by reading often and picking up books that explain the process of story developing. Every story you write will be better than the previous one, so don’t put it off! And as for that higher education, here are five famous authors who never graduated from college: Ray Bradbury, Maya Angelou, Truman Capote, Mark Twain, and H.G. Wells. [read more]
