This title sounds pretentious, but it’s straight to the point. Have you ever wondered what an author does all day? I’m sure every author is different, but here is what my day generally looks like. WEEKDAYS I take off weekends from writing and editing, and simply choose to focus on myself, my family, my stack of books to read, binging a TV show, etc. But during the week, I stick to a rigorous routine. My routine changes, but I always sit down to work between 8:30 and 9:00 in the morning. NOW, I’ll admit, if I’m not feeling well, or I didn’t sleep well the night before, then I’ll rest. But if it’s an average day, I usually try to get all my pressing work done first, such as editing.
I’m a freelance editor, and it’s rare when I’m not editing a client’s manuscript. But once I’m done with the allotted time for editing, I’ll begin querying my books to agents, writing a new book, jotting down ideas for a new book, pondering life, working on social media posts, sending out newsletters, etc. I usually only work until three o’clock. (I also take regular intervals to eat delicious snacks and listen to podcasts LOL.) After that, my kids are home, and I’ve made it a priority to spend time with them and catch up on my TBR list.
