Girl reading book on bed
The ancient lore of the grim reaper dates back centuries, but you don't have to understand the mythology to enjoy an intriguing book that has a grim reaper.  Sometimes the reaper can be scary, and other times, it can be the mysterious boy next door who also happens to be the love interest.

If you want to read a young-adult book that involves a grim reaper, then check out the following 5 books listed below!

FIRST GRAVE ON THE RIGHT

This whole grim reaper thing should have come with a manual.
Or a diagram of some kind.
A flow chart would have been nice.

Charley Davidson is a part-time private investigator and full-time grim reaper. Meaning, she sees dead people. Really. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (like murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice.

EXISTENCE

What happens when you're stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course.

Pagan Moore doesn't cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.

Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn't let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is, she knows he's dead.

But a grim reaper has different plans.

When a mysterious new student arrives, Mia's thrust into a sinister world with her life and heart at risk. She must discover who kidnapped her all those years ago and also stop the reaper who wants her dead. If Mia can't face her past, she can forget her future.

GRAVE WITCH

Grave witch Alex Craft can speak to the dead, but that doesn’t mean she likes what they have to say.

As a private investigator and consultant for the police, Alex Craft has seen a lot of dark magic. But even though she’s on good terms with Death himself—who happens to look fantastic in a pair of jeans—nothing has prepared her for her latest case. Alex is investigating a high profile murder when she’s attacked by the ‘shade’ she’s raising, which should be impossible. To top off her day, someone makes a serious attempt on her life, but Death saves her. Guess he likes having her around...
